Other Issues

In addition to the services I have outlined elsewhere, I have experience with a number of other clinical issues. Demographics I have worked with include college students, military veterans, juvenile offenders, and seniors, among other populations, and I have experience working with issues including: suicidal thoughts, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), LGBTQ issues, and other issues related to sexual orientation and gender. I also have experience providing communication and skills training for young adults with autism spectrum disorders.

I strive to be a a culturally sensitive counselor, and recognize that this involves constant learning on my part and challenging my own assumptions. I am up for the challenge. Working with people from diverse backgrounds is a wonderful perk of my job, as it allows me to grow as a person and professional. While I cannot guarantee that I do understand every obstacle you may face, I can absolutely guarantee that I am open to understanding.

If you would like to work with me, but aren’t sure if I can help you with a specific issue or problem, just ask! I’ll let you know if I think I can help. Sometimes, the best way to know whether it will be the right fit for you is for us to sit down together and see how the conversation goes. The therapeutic relationship between a client and therapist is one of (if not the) best predictor of therapeutic success. After meeting, if it doesn’t seem like the right fit, I’ll be happy to refer you to another local therapist who specializes in your specific area of need.
